Treatments

Metal braces

These are the most common type of braces used. They are made from medical grade stainless steel they are no longer big and clunky items but smaller and sleeker.

They can be used with or without bright colours that can be changed at each appointment.

Jaw Surgery

There are two parts to making a great smile. There is straightening the teeth, but in order for the bite to be correct we sometimes need to go further than the teeth.

If the size, shape or position of the jaws shows a significant discrepancy then we may require fixed braces treatment in conjunction with corrective jaw surgery. This is called orthognathic surgery.

This type of treatment is generally recommended when there has been a significant jaw developmental problem and orthodontic treatment alone cannot produce a satisfactory outcome.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic or clear brackets are the more discreet option for braces. They work in exactly the same way as the metal brackets using wires to help align the teeth.

adults

There is absolutely no age limit to having braces so why continue to be unhappy with your smile? No matter how old you are if you are in good health and your teeth and gums are healthy we can assist. So far our oldest patient has been 80, so what are you waiting for?

Our range of discreet treatment options, including clear ceramic braces  and  clear aligners  mean in many cases people won’t even notice you are having treatment.

Retainers & Retention

Once the braces are removed, we give our patient retainers to stabilize the dental corrections we have made.  As the bone and soft tissues around the teeth are stabilizing for several months after braces are removed, it is mandatory that the retainers are worn as instructed. Failure to wear the retainers may result in undesirable movement of the teeth, which could necessitate re-treatment.

Further, because teeth can continue to move throughout life, we feel that individuals who have undergone orthodontic therapy should wear retainers indefinitely.

Our goal is to help your smile stay beautiful and healthy for a lifetime. Your cooperation is essential in order to achieve this goal.

Clear Sequential Aligners

This is the name for a series of clear aligners custom moulded to fit your teeth that slowly move the teeth into place. There are many brands on the market such as Invisalign® and Spark® which are the brands we use.

The advantage of aligners is that they are clear and therefore almost invisible so people don’t see that you are moving your teeth. They are also removable so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment, plus brushing and flossing are easier. The aligners generally are comfortable.

Not everyone is a candidate for a sequential  aligner system. Please contact our office to schedule a consultation with an Orthodontist to see if the aligner technique is right for you.

Give a smile

Give a Smile™ is a public health initiative established by the Australian Society of Orthodontists (ASO).The purpose of the programme is for ASO orthodontists to be able to Give a Smile™ both figuratively and literally to people who are in need of orthodontic care but  whose financial situation and circumstances  preclude them accessing treatment through the private health system.

Give a Smile™ orthodontists are ASO members who have volunteered to treat, for no fee, patients selected from public orthodontic waiting lists throughout Australia. While all  the orthodontic treatment for these patients is undertaken at no cost, each patient is treated with the same high levels of care and respect as all other patients at our practice.

At FACE to FACE Orthodontics  we are proud to say that we were one of the first practices in Western Australia to participate in this initiative.
